Lament::
One of my amazing friends had to write a lament for her Prophet’s class, I wanted to share it with you because it fits the requirement for this blog; seasoned. Here it is:
Apathy, apathy all around;
Contagious it spreads like gangrene.
Asleep in the light of American dreams;
She rests while the lost world is ripped at its seams.No though for any other but only herself;
What pleasure? What purpose? She thumbs through her wealth.
Ask anyone around, where hope can be found; their response will most like be:
“There is no hope, we’ve just got dope,” a despairing scene indeed.But there’s one who’s been told of a room up above;
And her name is written on the door.
Does she tell those around her, of the hope that has found her?
Does she find it all a real bore?Bleeding, shattered, empty, broken people;
They pass her with hollow eyes.
She turns her head in such and such a way;
She speaks words of comfort and lies.Who will sound the alarm? Who will raise their voice?
People leading their death-filled lives.
Haters of God with each and every choice.
The remedy is here but the truth is unclear; the church has neglected her call.A whisper in the dark.
Light a match; catch a spark.
The flame inside must bring illumination.
The Word of God, so filled with love and with peace;
But also with rightful condemnation.The good news declared; sinful people left spared.
The grace of God fully displayed.
But she must go out from her neat and pretty couch.
A reality that stings by the way.What can be done, for soon Jesus shall come.
But this white-washed church has lost its heart.
Unfortunately now, and how dreadful it is;
“church” is played at like any other art.Deliver me Lord from these sleepy sunshine days.
Prevent me from lounging around.
O give us your heart, stir in us afresh.
Revive us to the glory of Your name!
You are great…yep
And I told you to fix it…
Katy, this is amazing.
I love/am praying the last few lines especially. Lord, deliver us….
